演讲者简介：ROBERTO A. VALDEÓN was awarded a Master’s degree in English Literature and Translation Studies from the University of Glasgow, and obtained his Ph. D. in English Studies from the University of Oviedo. He has published extensively on EFL and translation, including contributions to international journals such asPerspectives,Across Languages and Cultures,Meta,Linguistica Antverpiensia,Target,International Journal of Applied Linguistics,Babel,Forum,The Translator,Languages in Contrast,Bulletin of Spanish Studies,Translation Studies,Terminology and Translating and Interpreting Studies. He is a member of the international advisory board ofVigo International Journal of Applied Linguistics(University of Vigo) and John Benjamins’sHandbook of Translation Studies. He is the editor ofTranslating Information(2010) and has guest-edited special issues ofVigo International Journal of Applied Linguistics,Perspectives,Meta and Across Languages and Cultures. Since July 2011 he serves as Editor-in-Chief ofPerspectives Studies in Translatology. During the academic session 2011-2012 he joined the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and remains affiliated to its Translation Center. He has also been appointed Senior Research Fellow at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven to work on a project on the use of translation in the creation of national images.
