夏德安教授是芝加哥大学东亚语言与文明系中国研究方面的 Centennial Professor,东亚研究中心主任、顾立雅中国古文字研究中心成员。曾任古代中国研究学会主席、《早期中国》(21-27卷)编辑。夏德安博士1983年在加州大学伯克利分校获得东方语言学博士学位,博士论文是对马王堆3号墓的医学文献《五十二病方》的研究。1998年,他出版了《早期中国的医学文献:马王堆医学手稿》(伦敦克根□保罗国际出版社),这是第一部将马王堆3号墓所有医学文献翻译成西方语言的著作。目前,夏教授正与马克(Marc Kalinowski)教授合作,开展“早期中国的算命之书及通俗文化”项目的研究。该项目是对所谓“日书”类古代手稿及其在日常生活中之地位的详细考查。
Donald Harper is Centennial Professor in Chinese Studies in the Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations at the University of Chicago, where he is also Director of the Center for East Asian Studies and a member of the Creel Center for Chinese Paleography. He is a past Chair of the Society for the Study of Early China and Editor of Early China (vols. 21-27). Dr. Harper received his Ph.D. in Oriental Languages from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1983, with a dissertation on the Mawangdui tomb 3 medical text, Wushier bingfang 五十二病方 (Recipes for fifty-two ailments). In 1998 he published the first Western language translation of all Mawangdui tomb 3 medical manuscripts: Early Chinese Medical Literature: The Mawangdui Medical Manuscripts (London: Kegan Paul International). Currently he is collaborating with Professor Marc Kalinowski on the project “Books of Fate and Popular Culture in Early China,” which is a comprehensive survey of the type of ancient manuscript called rishu 日書 “day book” and its place in everyday life.
