演讲者简介:Patrick D. Murphy is one of the American leading ecocritics and the founding editor of ISLE: Interdisciplinary Studies in Literature and Environment, which is the official journal of Association for the Study of Literature and Environment (ASLE). His work in ecocriticism covers teaching a wide variety of nature-oriented courses and a range of critical writing on literary works and cultural studies issues from science fiction to books on hurricanes and their aftermaths, from John Burroughs's naturalist essays to Frost's nature poems to Carson's Silent Spring, from Florida mystery writers to German novelists, from Native American poets to Indian storytellers. He has been invited to give keynote speeches in numerous international conferences on a variety of topics such as "Damning Damming Modernity: Flowing Water and Changing Climate," "Ecocriticism in Asia: Reorienting Modernity, Reclaiming Nature?" "Consumption as Addiction, Sustainability as Recovery,” "Getting the Story Straight: Narrative and Rhetorical Strategies in Climate Change Popular Science and Fiction," "Ecological Applications of Mikhail Bakhtin's Theory of Dialogics," "Ecocriticism and the Waters of the World," "Practicing Ecocriticism in Literary and Cultural Studies," and so on.
