演讲者简介:Dr Roger Kojecky's [pronounced koh-'yet-ski] research on the leading poet of Modernism, T.S. Eliot (1888-1965), was ground-breaking. It arose from the doctoral thesis he wrote for the University of Oxford. He discovered the documents of an organised discussion group, The Moot, of which Eliot was a leading member during World War 2. A previously unknown paper by Eliot was edited and published in Kojecky's book, which gives a wide-ranging account of Eliot's social criticism. T S Eliot's Social Criticism won the George Adam Smith Prize from the University of Aberdeen, and remains the standard work on the subject. He is organising secretary of the Christian Literary Studies Group, which has links with the University of Oxford Faculty of English, and is editor of the peer-reviewed journal The Glass. His recent work has been on the Nobel Prize-winning novelist William Golding, and he has this year (2010) given literature lectures at the European universities of Krakow and Olomouc. Currently he is organising a literature conference in the University of Oxford in November. See the Faculty website: http://www.english.ox.ac.uk/news-and-events/academic-conferences.html
